Teach the future: Engaging Our Future Teachers

A Great Teacher Takes a Hand, Opens a Minds, Touches a Heart

Wednesday, November 14, 2018
8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Held on the campus of St. Vincent College, Latrobe, PA
Picture
This free event is open to local high school students who have dreams of one day becoming a teacher and their teacher chaperones. The day will consist of an opening keynote by the 2018 PA Teacher of the Year and will include three concurrent breakout sessions on topics about creative teaching and learning that will inspire our future teachers to enter the "profession that creates all other professions."

The event will also help students meet the College and Career Measures of Future Ready PA.

As per PDE:
For the 2018-19 school year and beyond, school entities must demonstrate that students have met the full continuum of career readiness expectations as defined for each grade span. Specifically, evidence shall be collected in a manner that validates that all four strands of the Career Education and Work standards have been meaningfully addressed. Grade span requirements are as follows:
  • By the end of grade 11, the student has produced eight additional pieces of evidence beyond the K-5 and 6-8 grade bands of evidence. At least two of these pieces of evidence must demonstrate implementation of the student’s individualized career plan.

All students will receive a certificate documenting the CEW (Career Education and Work) standards they attained during the conference.

Continental breakfast, lunch, and raffle prizes are included.  Teacher/Counselor chaperones attending the event will receive 4.5 hours of Act 48 credit.

Space is limited. Click on the "register now button" to register for this free event. Registration will close November 1st!
