Story Sack Project 2017
Kappa Delta Pi has embarked on a Literacy Alive service project this year. Members and inductees will be putting together Story Sacks to distribute to the Blackburn Center, a women's shelter, this spring.
Women suffering domestic violence often leave their homes quickly to get out of a dangerous situation. When they arrive at the Blackburn Center, mothers, and their children usually come with just the clothes on their backs. A representative from the Blackburn Center said that bedtime for children at the center is tough for many children because they area away from home and without security items that many children have at bedtime.
The Story Sacks will provide children in grades PreK-4, a bedtime storybook, a stuffed animal, and a fleece blanket, to keep.

BEVERLY'S BIRTHDAYS FUNDRAISER 2018
Beverly’s Birthdays, a non-profit organization that provides birthday cheer for children who are homeless and to families in need. Why? Because in Southwestern PA alone, there are nearly 3,000 school-aged children identified as homeless. Children living in poverty often go without the everyday items that we take for granted. Special milestones, like birthdays, are often overlooked because of their families’ personal/financial circumstances.
Beverly’s Birthdays operates several different programs. This year, Kappa Delta Pi, Psi Iota members are collected items for the Itty Bitty Birthday Cheer Bin program, which provides birthday cheer bins filled with essential items for newborn babies. KDP Members Collect Books for Derry Area School District After School Program 2021
KDP members and new initiates purchased over 100 new children's and adolescent literature books for the Derry Area School District after school program that serves children in K-12 in the Derry Area School District. KDP Officers are seen here with Derry Area School District program director and special education teacher, Debbie Gray.
Snuggle Sacks for the Blackburn Center Spring 2023
KDP members collected items for and assembled 35 snuggle sacks to donate to the Blackburn Center Women's Shelter.
Each snuggle sack contained a stuffed pet, coloring and activity books, crayons, and fidget toys, as well as a personal card and bookmark.

SLIPPER SOCKS FOR SVC WRAPS 2024
During the spring semester of 2024, members collected slipper socks for children and teens to help SVC Wraps.
