What opportunities are created with a makerspace?Education professor build-in inquiry and project based learning into their education courses for students to design, create, and problem-solve. The makerspace is designed to provide an environment for future educators to learn more about self-directed learning, problem-solving, collaboration, and the growth mindset.
How does the makerspace prepare pre-service teachers?The makerspace prepares pre-service teachers how to incorporate STEAM based learning activities into their unit/lesson plan. Pre-service teachers will learn how to create and design lessons using the materials available in the makerspace in a self-directed learning environment. Pre-service teachers will collaborate together to learn how to use the tools, equipment, and supplies prior to designing a lesson. All makerspace activities will be geared toward STEAM and technology education for grade PK-12.
