Kubi Telepresence Robot
Saint Vincent Education Department provides the opportunity for students to attend class remotely using a Kubi Telepresence Robot. The Kubi is a robotic stand attached to an iPad. Kubi means "neck" in Japanese, which makes sense because the robotic stand looks and acts like a human neck. When a student is connected to the Kubi, he or she can see and hear the face-to-face class. In addition, the Kubi robot moves up, down, and side-to-side for better visuals. Other students attending class in-person, as well as the professor, can see and hear the person on the Kubi. Because of all these features, students have opportunity to participate in the classroom activities, while attending the class remotely.

Requesting a KubiThe Education Department asks students to request a Kubi robot at least 24 hours prior to the class. Students will request a Kubi by completing a Microsoft form. The form will ask students for their name, course number, room number, professor name, and the date the student will attend remotely. The Saint Vincent Education Department, also, asks for students to email their professors and Marisa Carlson prior to completing a request form. Upon completion of a request form, students will receive an email with the Zoom linking information prior to class.
