This free event is open to local high school students who have dreams of one day becoming a teacher and their teacher chaperones. The day will consist of an opening keynote by the 2018 PA Teacher of the Year and will include three concurrent breakout sessions on topics about creative teaching and learning that will inspire our future teachers to enter the "profession that creates all other professions."
The event will also help students meet the College and Career Measures of Future Ready PA.
As per PDE:
For the 2018-19 school year and beyond, school entities must demonstrate that students have met the full continuum of career readiness expectations as defined for each grade span. Specifically, evidence shall be collected in a manner that validates that all four strands of the Career Education and Work standards have been meaningfully addressed. Grade span requirements are as follows:
All students will receive a certificate documenting the CEW (Career Education and Work) standards they attained during the conference.
Continental breakfast, lunch, and raffle prizes are included. Teacher/Counselor chaperones attending the event will receive 4.5 hours of Act 48 credit.

- By the end of grade 11, the student has produced eight additional pieces of evidence beyond the K-5 and 6-8 grade bands of evidence. At least two of these pieces of evidence must demonstrate implementation of the student’s individualized career plan.

Keynote Speaker: Jennifer Wahl, PA Teacher of the Year
Jennifer R. Wahl from Loyalsock Township School District was named the Pennsylvania 2017 Teacher of the Year.
Jennifer teaches social studies, including World History, AP World History, and AP Psychology at Loyalsock Township High School in the Loyalsock Township School District. She previously received the Lycoming County Chamber of Commerce Educator's Award and has traveled to 48 of the United States and 47 nations. Wahl has been awarded study tour travel opportunities with the Japan Society, the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia, and the International School for Jain Studies. Jennifer will open the event with inspiring words about teaching.
